From 5 till 14 September 2009 Dąbrowa Górnicza, already for the third time, was the host of the Michał Spisak International Music Competition. The competition was aimed at popularization of Polish music, promotion of young artists and works by Michał Spisak - Polish composer, born in Dąbrowa Górnicza. In 2009 the competition was in three specialties: flute, saxophone, accordion. The competition was open and addressed to musicians who are under 29 years of age.
